(Bibb, Crawford & Peach Counties)

Anita Reynolds Howard

I am Anita Reynolds Howard. A proud daughter of Middle Georgia who married Macon native and Central High School graduate, Todd Howard. Macon is my home; I have Peach County roots, and Crawford County family ties. My father graduated from Fort Valley State University. He faithfully served this country as a Captain in the Army for the GA National Guard, and diligently served his community as an elected member of the Crawford County Board of Education. My mother’s father was a sharecropper with a 7th grade education but he instilled in her the value of hard work. She was the oldest of ten and had to often times miss school to pick cotton in Burke County GA. Embarrassed that other schoolchildren would see her, she would lie down in the cotton field as the bus drove by. My mother was determined to position herself to have a better life and ensure better lives for future generations. She later retired from Houston County Board of Education after teaching 35 years. As a single parent, my mom struggled financially. I learned at a very early age from my mother, that I might not have all I want, but God will provide all I need. I am thankful my parents provided a road map for me and therefore I know the importance of education, service to the community, love for God, and a heart for His people. And with those life priorities, I am asking for your vote for District Attorney of the Macon Judicial Circuit (Bibb, Crawford and Peach Counties) in 2020. I graduated from Valdosta State University in 2002 and from law school in May 2005.

Since the Fall  of 2005, I have been a career prosecutor with over 14 years of experience in Superior, Juvenile, Accountability, and Probate Courts. I have chosen to dedicate my career to fighting for victims of crime and pursuing justice. I am encouraged by the bravery of victims that must relive their horrific stories every day in courtrooms across this country. I will never forget the trial in which a sister took the stand to testify against her only living sibling because he brutally shot their mother multiple times resulting in her death. While cases like this one are tough, I have never shied away from seeking just punishment for extreme crimes. However, I pride myself on my ability to be objective and approach each case and situation from a balanced perspective. Every case and situation is different and some circumstances may call for leniency.

Like you, I am extremely concerned about the FBI’s ranking of the Macon area as the 3rd highest in Georgia for violent crime; Macon is at the top of the list for property crime. Those statistics are astounding and we must do something. In preparation for this campaign, I have had the opportunity and privilege to listen to the concerns and suggestions of countless elected officials, law enforcement officers, ministers, citizens, and other community leaders in Bibb, Crawford, and Peach Counties. The common thread that could be agreed upon was in order to decrease crime and increase productivity for all citizens especially our youth, there needs to be more community engagement. I will be a District Attorney that governs from within the community, not simply from behind a desk at the courthouse. By electing me as your District Attorney, you have an opportunity to make a choice that will change the trajectory and shake up the status quo of Bibb, Crawford, and Peach Counties for the better. I vow to be the community’s DA. We can and we will do better. Just imagine all the possibilities if you had a choice in matters that count. Imagine having a choice of who makes the decisions concerning the sentencing of individuals that commit crimes. I want to be an example to help build other women leaders. I imagine the Macon Judicial Circuit at her best and I need your help because I have dared to imagine serving you as the District Attorney for the Macon Judicial Circuit (Bibb, Crawford and Peach Counties).

Best CHOICE, Clear VISION 2020!
